Zydeco music is all about energy and heat - and the Mo’ Mojo Mama Band brings both on! The band's music adds Cajun melodies to blues sounds from all over the south, and the result is something positive, energetic, and most importantly, danceable.
The Mo’ Mojo Mama Band combines the fiery sounds of Louisiana with a stage show so dynamite they are indisputably Ohio's hottest zydeco band. Formed in 1996 under the name of Zydeco Jones, the Mo’ Mojo Mama Band consists of Jen Maurer on accordion and lead vocals, Sarah Rolan on rubboard, Joe Golden on guitar, Doug McKean on bass, and Rod Lubline on drums.
The Mo’ Mojo Mama Band covers a lot of ground in the genre. In addition to their own originals, a Mo' Mojo Mama show includes staple hits from zydeco kings such as Clifton Chenier, Boozoo Chavis, and Beau Jacques; the new zydeco funk sounds of Chris and Sean Ardoin, and Keith Frank; and zydeco versions of songs by Led Zepplin, Ben Harper, and Blues Traveler. They also specialize in Mardi Gras and other New Orleans music.
